Londinense Sapiens - Day 1

Son las 5.00h, suena el desperador. Apenas he dormido, entre los nervios y los gatos de Paw, Me visto, ya que el vuelo es a las 7.35h, menos mal que un compañero de piso de Paw se ha ofrecido a llevarnos en su coche.

Cogemos los billetes y pasamos el control, dispuestos a iniciar una semana de aventuras. Ya en el avión notamos los primeros cambios: el personal del vuelo solo habla inglés (voolamos con British Airways). El vuelo en si genial, asientos muy cómodos, e incluso desayuno gratis.

Al aterrizar nos pidieron el pasaporte para atravesar la “frontera” y tras eso nos dirigimos a un lugar en el que cambiamos de moneda.

Después llegó el primer gasto: 15.50 libras por coger el Heathrow Express hasta la estación de Paddington. Puede parecer muy caro (de hecho lo es) pero la verdad es que el tren es excelente, asientos muy cómodos, TV, baños, WiFi,… y todo para un trayecto de 15 minutos.

Al llegar a Paddingtong sacamos las primeras fotografías en suelo inglés (ver galería) y nos pusimos a buscar el alojamiento, es decir, el “Caring Hotel” situado cerca del Hyde Park. Como aún no estabamos familiarizados con la zona nos “perdimos”, pero no tardamos en orientarnos y encontramos el lugar sin mayores contratiempos.

Dejamos las maletas en la habitación y nos pusimos a explorar los alrededores. En primer lugar dimos una vuelta por Hyde Park, del que he de decir dos cosas: es precioso y… ¡enorme!.

Tras comer y descansar, decidimos volver a salir y fue cuando hicimos uno de los descubrimientos que marcarían nuestra estancia en Londres: el pub “The Swan” al que retornaríamos cada noche para tomar unas cervezas (Guiness por supuesto) y escuchar buena música.

Este fue, en resumidas cuentas, nuestro primer día, os dejo unas fotos aquí que también podréis ver en la página de Galería del blog.

Actualizado: Tras estar paseando por la mañana cerca del Hyde Park nos encontramos un bolso con diversas pertenencias: cámara de fotos, móvil, documentación, dinero… Estuvimos buscando a unos policias durante un buen rato, al final los encontramos y entregamos el bolso (con todo, no nos quedamos con nada, a ver que os pensáis…)

5:00 a.m., the alarm awakes us. I have barely slept because the excitement and Paw’s cats. I dress because the flight takes off at 7:35 a.m. and one house-mate of Paw has offered to give us a ride to the airport in his car.

We get our tickets and we get through the airport control looking forward to starting a week of adventures. At the aircraft we notice the first differences: the crew only spoke English ( we flew with British Airways). The flight was wonderful, very good and comfortable seats, free lunch…

After landing we were requested to show our passports in order to be able to get into United Kingdom. Then we headed to an exchange office to change currency.

Then we spent our first pounds in the journey to Paddington station, 15.50 pounds for a single ticket on the Heathrow Express. A little expensive but the train was very good, comfortable seats, WiFi, cool toilets…. and all of it just for a 15 minutes trip.

Arriving to Paddington meant taking our first photos on English soil (see the gallery below) and we started looking for our hotel, the “Caring Hotel” located near Hyde Park. As we didn’t know the zone very well we got kind of lost, but soon we get the right direction and we found the place.

We left the luggage at the room and we started exploring the surroundings. First of all we went to Hyde Park which is beautiful and… so big!

After having something to eat and rest we decided to have a walk again and by doing so we discovered “The Swan” pub where we would return every night just to have a beer and listen to good music.

Well, this was, briefly, our fist day. You can see some photos below.

Updated: After walking around the Hyde Park in the morning we found a purse with many personal belongings: photo camera, mobile phone, documentation, money… We were looking for the police for a while and in the end we found them and we gave them the purse. (With everything, we didn’t steal anything, what are you thinking?).
